Waiting On Wednesday: Transcend by Christine Fonseca

“Waiting on” Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights an upcoming release we are greatly anticipating.

This week’s selection is:

Book: Transcend

Author: Christine Fonseca

Release Date: September 18th 2012

Goodreads | Amazon | B&N

Book Description:

All seventeen-year-old composer Ien Montgomery desires is an escape from his family’s rigid expectations for his life; someone to inspire his music. When he meets a beautiful violin-prodigy, Kiera McDougal, his life music takes on new life. With her, he imagines a future outside of his parents’ control. That is, until a horrible accident tears them apart.

Sent to die in a sanatorium, Ien’s obsession for Kiera grows unbearable. Tortured by thoughts he can’t escape and the truth of his monstrous disfigurement, he flees, desperate to exact revenge on the people that ruined his life – his parents. But, vengeance is empty. Betrayed by those closest to him, Ien discovers that the price for his happiness may be his sanity.

Why I’m waiting:

This is an especial Waiting on Wednesday because I’ve actually won this book on a giveaway last week. Yay for me! But I won’t be getting it until it’s released, so duh! I can’t wait to get my hands on it. As you can see it’s still not yet available for purchase (at least not on Amazon or B&N) and I have no idea why, but I invite you to check it on goodreads and drive yourself crazy while waiting with me.

So, what are you waiting on?  Leave a comment with your WoW link below and I’ll make sure to check it out!

  1. Neat pick. Reminds me a lot of Phantom of the Opera, and I love anything with the barest hint of psychology in it.

  27. Hi, Elle!
Thanks so much for visiting my WOW and commenting!!
This sounds like such an EPIC read!! It reminds me of The Phantom of the Opera, which I absolutely LOVE (not the original novel, but the musical). This one has a new element added to the plot — the fact that it’s Ien’s own parents who disfigure him. That’s so sad… Still, this sounds like an utterely compelling story, and I’m adding it to my TBR like…right NOW.
Thanks bunches for featuring this book!!! : )

  28. Oh, I just remembered!! I read a BEAUTIFUL novel several years ago, that was also inspired by The Phantom of the Opera! It was published in 1989, by Island Nation Press. You have GOT to read it!!!! The title is “Night Magic”, and the author’s name is Charlotte Vale Allen. You’ll LOVE this book!!
Also, have you read, or heard of, “Phandom”, by Susan Kay? This one is about the original Phantom of the Opera, but it’s SOOO much better than the one written by Gaston Leroux, believe me!! This book was first published by Random House in Canada in 1990, and was re-released in 2005, in both hardcover and trade paperback, by Llumina Stars.
If you’re a POTO fan, you MUST get these two books!!
