Tour Stop: Second Kiss by Natalie Palmer + Review

Blog Tour ButtonDid you uy miss me!? Yes, I know, I know. It’s been a while since we’ve had a blog tour around here, but better late than never, right?

Today we are starting of Natalie Palmer’s blog tour for her book Second to No One with a review.

A few things before we head that way…

What do you say we learn a little bit about Natalie first? This is what she has to say about herself:

Natalie Palmer PicI am a writer. But more importantly, I’m a mom, which is the best thing I could have ever hoped for in my life. I have three kids who amaze me every day with their little quips of humor and intelligence.  I can’t really applaud myself for how great they are, though, since I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing when it comes to mothering children.  But the fact that they’re turning out so awesome and I’m the one that hangs out with them all day makes me feel pretty good about myself.

I was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah where I was spoiled to have the huge Wasatch Mountains in my backyard.  I graduated from the University of Utah with a major in English Literature but that’s boring.  The exciting part was when I met and fell in love with the boy of my dreams. He wasn’t my first or second kiss but he was by far my favorite and it didn’t take us long to figure out that life could never be as good apart as it was together. So we got married and have been living happily ever after ever since.

When I’m not attending to my homemaking and writing duties I love to exercise because it’s the only time that I have an excuse to listen to my music uninterrupted and as loud as I want.  I love all different genres of music but I run extra fast when I hear Dashboard Confessionals, Cold Play or Owl City on my iPod.  Besides music I love anything that has to do with water including but not limited to drinking it, skiing on it (in liquid or powder form), basking in the sun while boating on it and (these days) lazily dreaming while my kids play in it for hours on end.

So there you have it. I’m a wife, mother, writer and iPod blasting mermaid.  While my husband works his brains out I take care of our kids and conjure up storylines and characters and romantic turns of events.  And someday, if we’re lucky, we’ll be as happy as we are now.

Now, and before you run away on me let’s talk about the book!

What you need to know first is that Second to No One is the sequel to Second Kiss, the most adorable book in the world. So before you go thinking about reading this one do check Second Kiss first, because for one you would be totally lost and, second, it’s beautiful!

I fell in love with Second Kiss instantly (you can read my review here, by the way), so when I found out about a second book I went head first, and it did not disappoint.

Now it’s cover and blurb time!

Second to No One Cover“Things change. People change. Jess and I weren’t above it.”

Gemma’s first year of high school isn’t starting out the way she hoped. Jess is back from California and before she can memorize her class schedule their summer romance comes to a screeching halt. To add to her misery the gorgeous new girl in school also has eyes for Jess and despite Gemma’s unfailing attempts to win him back she keeps finding herself alone.

But when a late night car crash lands her a three month grounding and twenty hours of community service she discovers that there’s more to life than just romance and boyfriends.

Unpredictable and heart wrenching, Second to No One is the perfect continuation to the magical beginning of the Gemma and Jess romance.

[ARC] Review: Hollywood Holiday (Red Carpet #2) by Sasha Summers

Book: Hollywood Holiday

Author: Sasha Summers

Expected Publication: December 7, 2012

My Rating: 4.5/5

Goodreads | Amazon | B&N

Book Description:

All she wants for Christmas is for Hollywood to love her again. But once she meets him, her Christmas list changes.

Jen’s only Christmas wish: Hollywood falling back in love with her. Meeting ex-Marine Gunner was a bonus. She likes that he isn’t impressed by celebrities or the movie biz. She likes that he’s funny and sweet … and drop-dead gorgeous. And she loves that he has no idea who her alter-ego is: Jen Fleming, Hollywood bad-girl and paparazzi target number one. Why ruin an amazing affair when he’s leaving after the new year?

But the closer they get, the harder she falls, and the more she wants to tell Gunner everything. Especially once he shares his secret with her.

Her new Christmas wish: Gunner accepts and loves her for who she really is.

My Review:

Get ready, because with Hollywood Holiday you’re in for a ride!

Jen Fleming is a Hollywood actress; she’s a party girl, a trouble maker. Paparazzi follow her every move and after one too many bad decisions she only wants to be her old self again. She just wants to be Jenny again; the woman, the actress. Without the baggage and problems trailing right behind.

Things start looking up when on the flight home she sits next to a gorgeous, sweet, and completely swoon-worthy ex-marine. If only he didn’t recognize Jennifer Fleming in her, then we’d be all good.

It appears Jenny is on a lucky day, because cute-dimples-Gunner is not a movie guy. Now there’s only one thing missing for Jenny to be completely at ease. Get over her irrational fear that the plain is going down. Continue reading

She’s running out of options, especially after her gay best friend backs out from being her sperm donor. My Review:

Holy mother!

If you asked me what I thought of The Proposition, that’s what I would say. Okay, no. Maybe I would say something way stronger, but on the off-chance that there are kids reading this I won’t say it. And by the way, if you’re a kid, don’t read this.

Where shall I begin?

[ARC] Review: Teeth by Hannah Moskowitz

Book: Teeth

Author:  Hannah Moskowitz

Expected publication: January 1st 2013

My Rating: 4.5/5

Goodreads | Amazon |B&N

Book Description:

Be careful what you believe in.

Rudy’s life is flipped upside-down when his family moves to a remote island in a last attempt to save his sick younger brother. With nothing to do but worry, Rudy sinks deeper and deeper into loneliness and lies awake at night listening to the screams of the ocean beneath his family’s rickety house.

Then he meets Diana, who makes him wonder what he even knows about love, and Teeth, who makes him question what he knows about anything. Rudy can’t remember the last time he felt so connected to someone, but being friends with Teeth is more than a little bit complicated. He soon learns that Teeth has terrible secrets. Violent secrets. Secrets that will force Rudy to choose between his own happiness and his brother’s life.

My Review:

I went into this book pretty much blind, I didn’t really know what to expect. I hadn’t read any review before I requested this book from Edelweiss; I was going by the description, which didn’t give much away, not much of what the book is actually about, not really. But then my request got accepted (which surprised me a lot, by the way) and I just dove right into it. I didn’t want to spoil myself by reading reviews and for once, I wanted a book to really surprise me.

And boy, did it work!

I was told a lot about Hannah Moskowitz’s writing, and how amazing and real it is. Let me tell to those that never read anything by her –like I was before Teeth –it’s true. Her writing is amazing, and it was what kept me going and helped me get past my annoyance with the formatting of this ARC (and don’t worry, even if the writing were bad this would not have affected my review, I assure you. It was an ARC after all!). Continue reading

My Review:

I honestly don’t know where to begin, I knew when I finished reading it over a week ago that this was going to be a hard review to write, and I was right, I’m still somewhat overwhelmed.

I know I had been eagerly waiting to read this book for months, and though I’m not completely sure just what I expected, I’m so very happy to say that I was not disappointed, not in the slightest. Not even a little bit.

I fell in love with the cover instantly, and after reading the description all I knew was that I had to read it. And then I won a signed copy (thank you Christine!) and there was no stopping my eagerness.

I still am…

And now to the review! Continue reading
