As some of you may know, I most of the time
always choose books based on their covers. It’s a first inspection a book goes through before I decide to read it. But rest assured I’m not that shallow, so after the cover is a go I read the summary, and if that’s a go the book goes to my to-read list. There are too many books in this world, a girl has to base herself on something to narrow it down. Are we still talking about books here? Eh?
So! Against my better judgement I thought: “Hey, maybe I should take a chance, see where it leads.” And so I did. The story doesn’t end well… Continue reading

He let her make the rules…
NYC’s most eligible bachelor, Brit Bencher, is also known as The Slayer for his reputation in the boardroom…and the bedroom. And he’ll do anything to take care of his family, even seduce high-powered corporate attorney Tori Anderson in the hopes of getting her to reveal confidential information about one of her clients. But for the first time in his life, he finds he’s falling for a woman.
…and then he started to break them.
After juggling the demands of her career and the stress of caring for her ailing mother, Tori Anderson doesn’t have time for relationships—but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t want to feel like a woman. When Brit offers a no-strings attached fling, it sounds like exactly what she needs. But what will she do when Brit decides he won’t take “one night stand” for an answer? When Tori uncovers his lies, will he lose his chance with her forever?
(It might be a tad spoiler-ish)
I had quite some mixed feelings over this book. I felt a bit disappointed. I expected more. Way more. And though it wasn’t a bad read, it left me wanting for something else, some sort of deeper connection with the characters.
Tori Anderson is a twenty-something lawyer. She’s driven, determined and strong. She’s better known as a workaholic. Work is her life. And she’s also very untrusting when it comes to good looking, charming men. Having learned from her mother than any men with too much charisma was not to be trusted, Tori takes her advice to the heart. Brit Bencher is exactly the type that falls into that rule. Into Tori’s Rules of Negotiation.

Who’s the sexy blonde stranger sleeping in Simon Holcroft’s bed? The workaholic returns from a business trip to find someone stretched out on his sheets. Between the laundry basket at her side and the smell of orange cleaner, he deduces that the young woman is his maid-and resists the urge to kiss her awake.
But when his brother’s fiancé-his own ex-bursts in and strips down to her panties, Simon has to get her dressed and back where she belongs. So he introduces the maid as his fiancée. But his little white lie gets bigger, because now he has to bring his supposed bride-to-be to meet the whole family. One offer-she-can’t-refuse later, Simon has bought himself a temporary fiancée.
In debt up to her eyeballs and all alone for the holidays, how could struggling grad student Caroline Sampson not accept her gorgeous client’s fantasy proposal? But acting like she’s in love comes more easily than she ever expected.
Oh my! I don’t know where to start. I’m actually really tempted to just spill all the magnificence His Secret Temptation was, but I’ll take it easy, for all of our sake’s.
His Secret Temptation starts rather great. If I’m being completely honest I loved the beginning more than anything else. There’s nothing like arriving home to find a gorgeous blonde woman sleeping in your bed, is there Simon? Or that’s what I would think if I were a boy, but I’m not. Whatever. I get you, Simon, no worries. So that’s how the story starts off, with Caroline fast asleep on Simon’s oh-so-comfy-and-great-smelling-bed.
Yummy . After a startled wake Simon and Caroline get an unexpected guest, breaking their clear attraction. Can we say swoon? Or maybe I should have said shit? *giggle*
