Review: It’s in His Kiss by Caitie Quinn

Book: It’s in His Kiss

Author: Caitie Quinn

Published: June 2011

My Rating: 5/5

Goodreads | Amazon | B&N

Book Description:

Jenna’s been letting life pass her by as she works on her career. But, when she needs to do some research of this kissing kind, things may get a little more heated than she expected.
Research has never been so fun.

This 11k short has no vampires, shape shifter or scorching sex, but it might make you snort your diet Coke out your nose.

My Review:

[This is a short story and as such it is reviewed differently than full lengths books]

Eeek! How can such a short story be so damn good?!

It was beyond cute. And so funny!

Jenna is a writer. She writes a YA series and her character is in serious need of her first kiss. The only problem is Jenna can’t write it. Why? Well, write about what you know they say. If only Jenna’s first kiss wasn’t one she’d like to forget. Continue reading

Review: Inescapable (The Premonition #1) by Amy A. Bartol

Book: Inescapable (The Premonition #1)

Author: Amy A. Bartol

Published: August 2011

My Rating: 5/5

Goodreads | Amazon | B&N

Book Description:

My name is Evie Claremont and this was to be the making of me–my freshman year of college. I had been hoping that once I had arrived on Crestwood’s campus, the nightmare that I’ve been having would go away. It hasn’t.

I may be an inexperienced seventeen-year-old, but I’m grounded…sane. Since meeting sophomore Reed Wellington, however, nothing makes any sense. Whenever he is near, I feel an attraction to him–a magnetic kind of force pulling me towards him. I know what you’re thinking…that sounds fairly awesome. Yeah, it would–if he liked me, but Reed acts as if I’m the worst thing that’s ever happened to Crestwood…or him. But, get this, for some reason every time I turn around he’s there, barging into my life.

What is the secret he is keeping from me? I’m hoping that it is anything but what I expect: that he is not exactly normal…and neither am I. So maybe Crestwood won’t be the making of me, but it could be the breaking of me. I have been left to wonder if the dark future my dream is foretelling is…inescapable.

My Review:

I don’t know whether to scream in happiness or to cry right now. I just finished reading Inescapable and I’m not so sure if it is wise of me to write a review quiet so soon. I probably need to take a few deep breaths, because really, my head is swimming. What have you done to me Amy A. Bartol?

Wow. Where to start, huh? Continue reading

Review: Second Kiss by Natalie Palmer

Book: Second Kiss

Author: Natalie Palmer

Published: November 2010

My Rating: 5/5

Goodreads | Amazon | B&N

Book Description:

Gemma Mitchell is a normal girl who somehow gets herself into abnormally embarrassing circumstances. And while she thinks she’s the biggest loser in school because of them, there are a few people in her life who would disagree. One of those people is her best friend, Jess Tyler, who is opposite to her in every way. He’s popular, good looking, athletic, and intelligent, and he can’t get enough of Gemma. But while Gemma is dealing with problems like wrong locker combinations and Valentine’s Day dances, Jess is living in a world of serious issues that are foreign to Gemma, until she realizes that he’s holding on to her for dear life.

Humorous and true to life, Second Kiss is an entertaining saga about a boy and girl who find that their lives have a lot more meaning once they have shared them with each other.

My Review:

Second Kiss is a story about how love and friendship can help you get through the hardest times of your life. Continue reading

Review: What A Boy Wants by Nyrae Dawn

Book: What A Boy Wants

Author:  Nyrae Dawn

Published: April 2012

My Rating: 5/5

Goodreads | Amazon | B&N

Book Description:

Courtesy of watching his mom’s relationships, Sebastian Hawkins knows what girls need to do to get a guy. He has what he considers a PHD in hooking up. When he needs extra cash for a car, Sebastian starts up an online venture as The Hook-up Doctor, to anonymously help girls land the guy of their dreams. Of course, his services don’t offer a happily-ever-after guarantee. He’s seen firsthand getting together never means staying together.

And then he falls in love…

With the last girl he would expect…

Totally not in his game plan.

Suddenly, Sebastian finds himself muddled in the game he’s always prided himself on. He can’t even pick up girls at parties anymore! Why would anyone want to be in love when it turns you into a stuttering, screwed-up, mess with really lame stalker tendencies? Stalking? Totally not his gig.

But the Hook-up Doctor won’t let himself go down easily. He’s always known how to give a girl what she wants and now it’s time to figure out what a boy wants… and he definitely plans on getting it.

My Review:

“Watch out, world. The Hook-up Doctor was in love.”

Holy… Mother of God!! So was I.

I’m so in love with this book. It was perfect. Since the very beginning until the very end. So freaking sweet! Continue reading
