[ARC] Review: An Act of Persuasion (Tyler Group #2) by Stephanie Doyle

Book: An Act of Persuasion (Tyler Group #2)

Author: Stephanie Doyle

Expected Publication: March 5th 2013

My Rating: 2/5

Goodreads | Amazon | B&N

Book Description:

For all the wrong reasons?

Anna Summers has always been more than Ben Tyler’s assistant. She’s even been more than his best friend. Too bad Ben didn’t realize it until after she quit. Now that he’s more like his old self after facing off against a life-threatening illness, he’s ready to win Anna back.

Of course, it’s not simple. One night Ben broke his own rule about getting involved with an employee. And now Anna is pregnant. She refuses to let him use the baby as a reason for them to reconcile. It will take an act of persuasion to convince her they belong together…and not only because of the baby.

My Review:

I’m not sure about much at the moment. I’m not sure how to rate it or how I really feel about this book. Continue reading

My Review:

I still don’t know how I feel about this book.

Overprotected? That’s an understatement. I just can’t believe I read all of it at all. It had good and bad parts, the problem was the bad parts were B-A-D! Continue reading

Review: The Billionaire Bum by Samantha Blair

Book: The Billionaire Bum

Author: Samantha Blair

Published: March 2011

My Rating: 2/5

Goodreads | Amazon | B&N

Book Description:

Billionaire businessman Jackson Hayes finds himself in a difficult situation one night after making a crazy bet with his brother and business partner. Can he survive one week living like he’s homeless? What will he learn about life and love along the way? A romantic comedy that will warm your heart and open your eyes.

My Review:

I don’t even know how to rate this book.

I was intrigued by the cover of course, and the description. I know following books because of its cover ain’t wise, but damn! Most of the time good covers equal good books. Not this time though.

It wasn’t that the book sucked, per se. It just wasn’t really good… I guess that means it sucked? Meh. Continue reading

Review: Wrecked by Anna Davies

Book:Wrecked

Author: Anna Davies

Published: May 2012

My Rating: 2/5

GoodReads | Amazon | B&N

Book Description:

Secrets of the sea have never been sexier than this. Ever since the death of her parents, Miranda has lived on Whym Island, taking comfort in the local folklore, which claims a mysterious sea witch controls the fate of all on the island and in its surrounding waters. Sometimes it’s just easier to believe things are out of your control.

But then a terrible boating accident takes the lives of several of her friends, and Miranda is rescued by a mysterious boy who haunts her dreams. Consumed by guilt from the accident, she finds refuge in late-night swims—and meets Christian, a boy who seems eerily familiar, but who is full of mystery: He won’t tell her where he is from, or why they can only meet at the beach. But Miranda falls for him anyway…and discovers that Christian’s secrets, though meant to protect her, may bring her nothing but harm.

My Review:

I really expected more from this book, what with the description and the first few chapters I was really excited about it. Actually, I was ecstatic! I think prospect of what might happen, and how it would unfold lead me to set my expectations far too high. It is also the first time I read a book about mermaids and what-not, but I’m always open to new genres so I believe that wasn’t the problem.

This is also the very first time I write a ‘bad’ review, and I’m sad about it, but there are things we just can’t avoid. English is not my first language so I’m not one to speak of flaws or mistakes, or whatever-you-want-to-call-them. I am not one to notice them either, because when a story is good I don’t even pay attention to such details, but with Wrecked it was impossible not to notice them.
