Waiting On Wednesday: Me, Him, Them and It by Caela Carter

“Waiting on” Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights an upcoming release we are greatly anticipating.

This week’s selection is:

Book: Me, Him, Them and It

Author: Caela Carter

Release Date: February 5th 2013

Goodreads |Amazon | B&N

Book Description:

When Evelyn decided to piss off her parents with a bad reputation, she wasn’t planning to ruin her valedictorian status. She also wasn’t planning to fall for Todd-the guy she was just using for sex. And she definitely wasn’t planning on getting pregnant. When Todd turns his back on her, Evelyn’s not sure where to go. Can a distant mother, a cheating father, an angry best friend, and a (thankfully) loving aunt with adopted daughters of her own help Evelyn make the heart-wrenching decisions that follow?

Why I’m waiting:

As I read this books description again, I can’t think why I was so in love with it when I found it! lol But I was, and maybe it is too early for my brain to start working again, but it seems like it’s going to be a great book, an emotional rollercoaster! 😉

So, what are you waiting on?  Leave a comment with your WoW link below and I’ll make sure to check it out!

Oh, and HAPPY HALLOWEEN, everyone! 😉

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme hosted on Mondays by Sheila from Book Journey. It features the books you read last week, books currently reading, and books you plan on finishing this week.

What I read this past week:

Dies Irae (Requiem 0.5)
By Christine Fonseca

I started reading Dies Irae in my preparation for the second Requiem book by Christine Fonseca that’s released tomorrow, but I fell behind because I couldn’t read the first one. Not that I won’t read it. School is no help at all right now, so I have to be careful on my neglecting. 😉

Anyway. Dies Irae was really good. It’s short, about eighty-three pages, but it’s a novella after all, right? And I think it just sets the right pace and intrigue to get you on edge to read the next book.

Don’t forget it’s a freebie on Amazon! 😉 Continue reading

[ARC] Review: The Proposition by Katie Ashley

Book: The Proposition

Author: Katie Ashley

Expected Publication: November 1st, 2012

My Rating: 4/5

Goodreads | Amazon | B&N

Book Description:

With her thirtieth birthday looming, Emma Harrison finds her biological clock clanging and the elusive knight in shining armor yet to appear. She’s running out of options, especially after her gay best friend backs out from being her sperm donor. Of course, there’s always a sperm bank, but Emma fears a donor mix-up might impregnate her with the spawn of Satan.

Resident company womanizer, Aidan Fitzgerald, is used to always getting what he wants, especially in the bedroom. When Emma spurns his advances at the company Christmas party, he’s determined to have her no matter what it takes. After Aidan learns of Emma’s predicament, he is quick to offer a proposition that will benefit them both. He will father Emma’s child, but she must conceive it with him naturally. Not one for hook-ups or casual sex, Emma is reluctant to take him up on his offer, but his charm, coupled with her intense desire for motherhood, wins out.

Soon their baby-making sessions become more than just physical. Aidan can’t seem to walk away from her while Emma begins to wonder if Aidan could be the one. But can Aidan leave his past behind to become the man Emma needs him to be?

My Review:

Holy mother!

If you asked me what I thought of The Proposition, that’s what I would say. Okay, no. Maybe I would say something way stronger, but on the off-chance that there are kids reading this I won’t say it. And by the way, if you’re a kid, don’t read this.

Where shall I begin?

My pick:

I loved this cover from the moment I saw it. And as we’ve already stablished, I read books that have covers that I like, so yes I’m reading this book as soon as it’s out (February 19th 2013). But just so you don’t think badly of me, let me just tell you that the summary is equally captivating.

I loved the colors in this cover, the blue the pink, they are just so bright! Plus the shadow-y details all over the place that makes you think just what this book might bring.

My Rating: 5/5

Goodreads | Amazon | B&N

Book Description:

But Alyssa’s not looking for protection—not anymore. Now that she’s back in his life, she’s determined to heal her forbidden hero, one touch at a time…

My Review:

Oh my! Oh my! I’m still pretty giddy over Her Forbidden Hero. It was sooo good! Like Marco. Um… I guess I better get started with this review, no?

As my fashion goes I started this book last night, right about midnight. For some reason the books I choose to start late at night always end up keeping me up way more than I can actually afford to stay up… school night and all that. Who cares? I don’t regret it, at all. How could I really, after Marco this amazing book? Continue reading

Waiting On Wednesday: Just One Day by Gayle Forman

“Waiting on” Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights an upcoming release we are greatly anticipating.

This week’s selection is:

Book: Just One Day

Author: Gayle Forman

Release Date: January 8th 2013

Goodreads |Amazon | B&N

Book Description:

When sheltered American good girl Allyson “LuLu” Healey first meets laid-back Dutch actor Willem De Ruiter at an underground performance of Twelfth Night in England, there’s an undeniable spark. After just one day together, that spark bursts into a flame, or so it seems to Allyson, until the following morning, when she wakes up after a whirlwind day in Paris to discover that Willem has left. Over the next year, Allyson embarks on a journey to come to terms with the narrow confines of her life, and through Shakespeare, travel, and a quest for her almost-true-love, to break free of those confines.

Why I’m waiting:

When I first saw this book yesterday I liked the cover. And then I saw the author’s name and thought: why does this ring a bell? and then BAM! Of course! It’s the author of If I Stay and Where She Went! And then I read the summary and fell in love. There are no doubts that I will read this book. I mean, did you read the summary? I want! Thank goodness it isn’t so far away from being released. 🙂

Review: On the Island by Tracey Garvis-Graves

Book: On the Island

Author: Tracey Garvis-Graves

Published: October 2011

My Rating: 5/5

Goodreads | Amazon | B&N

Book Description:

When thirty-year-old English teacher Anna Emerson is offered a job tutoring T.J. Callahan at his family’s summer rental in the Maldives, she accepts without hesitation; a working vacation on a tropical island trumps the library any day. T.J. Callahan has no desire to leave town, not that anyone asked him. He’s almost seventeen and if having cancer wasn’t bad enough, now he has to spend his first summer in remission with his family – and a stack of overdue assignments – instead of his friends.

Anna and T.J. are en route to join T.J.’s family in the Maldives when the pilot of their seaplane suffers a fatal heart attack and crash-lands in the Indian Ocean. Adrift in shark-infested waters, their life jackets keep them afloat until they make it to the shore of an uninhabited island.

Now Anna and T.J. just want to survive and they must work together to obtain water, food, fire, and shelter. Their basic needs might be met but as the days turn to weeks, and then months, the castaways encounter plenty of other obstacles, including violent tropical storms, the many dangers lurking in the sea, and the possibility that T.J.’s cancer could return. As T.J. celebrates yet another birthday on the island, Anna begins to wonder if the biggest challenge of all might be living with a boy who is gradually becoming a man.

My Review:

Oh my god! What a book! I think I’ll never quite recovered from the emotional roller-coaster this book provided. A forever favorite, that’s for sure.

I’ve wanted to start this book since the moment I found it, but you know how it is. Life isn’t always on our side, I ended up putting it down for a little while, but I’m so glad I read it now. So glad! I was hooked since the very first chapter when we meet 16-year-old T.J, and his tutor 30-year-old English teacher Anna. Continue reading
